A Novel Prosthetic Leg

In my CAD class I decided to model a below-the-knee prosthetic leg for my final project, as I am very interested in working with prosthetics in the future.

The design challenge I gave myself was to model the leg in the aesthetic on Bionicle, the LEGO action figure line that defined my childhood. I decided to model part 47297 for the main section. Changes were made to the pistons to allow the design to provide support for the knee joint. The foot is patterned after common prosthetic foot designs that enable stability while retaining give on impact.

All work was done in Solidworks.
